It's not about Email, it's about messaging. Email is not so much the number #1 application as the #1 communication channel, and in time, it is likely to absorb all the other communication channels as it takes its place as the primary business infrastructure for communications. What will this mean for the business?
Robin Bloor, one of Europe's leading Industry Analysts, who works with Enterprise CIOs and industry experts across the world, will discuss how changes in Email capability and technology, that he regards as inevitable, will affect your Email systems. In doing so he will cover the important issues of management, scalability, security, delivery mechanisms, infrastructure innovations and software enhancements.

Today's Email solutions are built on technology developed in the 1980s. Even though Email has come along way in that time, the architectures of present day Email technology are struggling under the pressures of more Email users, more Emails being sent per user, more in-depth scanning of messages and the increased size of each Email sent. Is it too late to fix what some are calling the "killed app"? Networks are compromised, employees are inefficient and consumers are becoming skeptical, but is the sky really falling? Find out what technology, policy and consumer best practices can do to save this mission-critical communications medium.

It is widely recognised that the cost of dealing with email security threats such as Spam, Viruses, Phishing, DoS and Directory Harvest attacks increases the further into a network they penetrate. Attention is required to address these threats at the outermost layer of the network. In this session we will explore the weaknesses with many of today's Email security practices and discuss the latest techniques and architectures for solving today's and future Email security threats.

Email is the most critical communication service a company provides to their employees. Julian will discuss why the ability to quickly recover from accidental or malicious outages has become essential. Also why archiving email data has grown more important for many organisations to ensure a consistent copy of data is maintained as a long term record of a business or application state, protect against loss or failure, enable compliance, facilitate rapid e-mail search and recovery for litigation support and reduce overall e-mail related storage costs. E-mail archives are typically used for auditing, analysis, and the retrieval of infrequently accessed data as opposed to mission-critical application recovery. This session will discuss the issues with undertaking these activities effectively and efficiently. |

Archiving is a logical solution to managing email growth, but legislation and other business issues demand that the lifecycle of stored digital information is properly managed.
This session looks at how the problems of mailbox overload and information lifecycle management can be addressed as part of the same project. And, given that legislation relating to email retention is a) confusing and b) still emerging, we will look at what flexibility and functionality will be needed to address future 'compliance' requirements.

How many articles have been written and presentations given on compliance - hundreds, thousands...? Probably. How many of them tell you what you need to know? Very few. In his second presentation Robin will guide you through the mist and tell what is really happening in the US that is likely to affect the UK and what is happening that will not. Is compliance as important as all the hype suggests? How many companies have been investigated and fined? Should you take it seriously or not? Robin will answer these questions and provide sound advice on what to do and what to care about. |
